Scientific posters communicate preliminary results, provide students with opportunities to participate directly in the scientific process and to elicit feedback from experts in the field. Kimi’s abstract served as a concise summary of her sophisticated project and provided an overview of the overall work: background, results and the implications of her findings. The nature of this project was to utilize bioinformatics to analyze data and her particular approach to this presentation provided a compelling visual representation of complex information. Scientific posters, when presented at conferences, serve as a catalyst for discussion of the student’s data with experts and peers. Kimi’s poster is laid out in a way that efficiently facilitates such discussions.
